I’ve heard that they’re pretty large and give you a reasonable size and I was just wondering if anyone knew! I really want to know so that I can decide if I ever want to try Smoothie King in the near future!

The most common size is the 20 ounce small.  There is also a limited menu for small kids in a 12 ounce size.  After you get comfortable with your preference you can look at a larger size.  The sizes and prices are shown right on the menu.

I’ve been gradually reducing my meat intake in pursuit of becoming a vegetarian. I have zero support from family members in this matter and I am constantly being told by them that the protein I get from tofu or other vegetable product is not the same as a meat protein and that the body needs the protein derived from meat to be balanced. Is any of this true? Are vegetables and vegetable products not enough to get the type of protein a body needs - do I have to take some certain supplements to make up for the type of protein I’m not getting from meat?

One difference is: The body uses the amino acids that make up protein. The body has to break down meat protein into amino acids to use them. Plants protein is already mostly broken down and more accessible.

On the other hand: Animal source proteins are complete proteins, containing all 8 essential amino acids.   Plant sources will never have all 8 essential amino acids, so you need to make sure that you eat a variety of plant proteins.  You can get enough complete protein from vegetable sources, but variety is the key.

As far as supplements go, everyone can benefit from a good multivitamin and mineral formula, vegetarians and carnivores alike!

How much protein is in one egg white? Is there any protein in the yolk?

An egg white (raw) contains about 3.6 grams of protein. The egg yolk (also raw) contains about 2.7 grams of protein.

I was wondering how much more protein is in the average protein drink compared to a glass of milk. Also, I was hoping for protein mix suggestions for a beginner user of supplements and where you can purchase the mix. Thanks.

Whether it’s a pre-made drink or protein powder, there’s usually about 20-30g of protein per serving. Personally, i’d go for the whey powder because it gives you the freedom to mix ingredients yourself. buy yourself a good blender and mix it up with fat free milk, yogurt, flax seeds, and fruits.

The other point to consider is that milk is an incomplete protein.  Most protein drink mixes are complete proteins.

I just got a treadmill and I am a beginning runner. I want to gain muscle and lose fat off my mid section, arms, breasts, and everywhere. I was wondering what is a good treadmill workout. I’ve always heard that running intervals like 2 minutes fast pace than 2 minutes slow pace and so on is a good way to workout. But I would think that running a good 25-30 minutes fast pace is also a good workout. Which way is more efficient and what is an overall good workout plan?

Start with a 10 min warm up then increase the incline to about 3-5 % grade (Uphill) Run hard uphill for 3 minutes, then slow the pace for 90 seconds. Repeat this process for 3 miles the first week, then add 2 more miles for a total of 5 miles. The following week increase the percentage (% ) of incline a little more. This Will make the run even more challenging for you. Or you can increase the time you run hard (and the recovery as well) by 1-2 minutes. Drink 8-12 oz of water and 25 grams of protein (should be done within the first 30 minutes after exercising), warm down for 10 min and then stretch out for 30 minutes. Have fun!
