The Truth about Ab Machines

Its a new year, and time for a fresh round of endless info-mercials touting the latest product that’s going to give you “rock hard, sixpack abs in just minutes a day, right in the comfort of your living room.  Guaranteed or your money back!”

What you should know is that the makers of the all new Ab-literator (patent pending) have a few facts they would rather you not know.  First, the average buyer will use their new Ab-literator for just under three weeks before parking it to gather dust, or maybe serve as a dryer rack for the laundry.  Fewer than one tenth of one percent will return their Ab-literator ”for a full refund,” since they never really used it in the first place and don’t really know if it is effective or not.

But wait, there’s more!  The truth is, there’s really not much of any way to get “six pack abs” just doing abdominal exercises.  The abdominals are a very small muscle group, with limited potential for development.  Plus, we really don’t want BIG abs, we just want them to show!  As such, ab work by itself really doesn’t burn many calories.  This is important because:

The real secret to the models’ taut waistline is low body fat, not highly developed abdominal muscles.

So how are we really supposed to get that ripped, rock hard sixpack like the models?  Well, the truth is, if you are over 21, not an elite athlete, and never had sixpack abs before, you probably won’t get them now.  Genetics make it very hard for most of us.

But, through a sensible plan of diet and exercise, we can all improve what we have and make ourselves a bit healthier in the process.  The other good news is that doing some ab work is beneficial.  Strong abdominals help the digestive elimination process and help us avoid injury while exercising.  And lastly, an effective ab workout should only take 7-10 minutes several times a week, with no special equipment required!

The American Medical Association recommends that everyone can benefit from a good multivitamin and mineral supplement.  This is even more critical for dieters, who have the added stress of caloric restriction.  Make sure your formula includes a full complement of both vitamins and minerals.

If swallowing tablets is a problem, try a high potency liquid, such as Balanced Essentials from Heaven Sent Naturals. This formula includes digestive enzymes for better absorption, extra B vitamins for stress, and a green food complex to help make up for some of the fresh green vegetables we aren’t eating every day.

Top tablets include the award winning KAL Enhanced Energy formula and Irwin Naturals Living Green multi, which is actually a liquid formula in a gelcap.  The Smoothie King Energy Green multi duplicates the KAL formula plus a green foods complex in a capsule for easier swallowing and digestion.

The Truth about Ab Machines

To get the most out of your new health program, your digestive system needs to be in top condition.  Cleansing your system removes toxins from your body, can reduce the risk of some cancers, and improves the absorption of nutrients from food.  Additionally, removing excess waste can bring about a quick loss of excess weight and inches.

We take in toxins, chemicals, and pollutants every day. Many foods contain processed ingredients and preservatives that cannot be digested.  Dairy products, alcohol and general over-eating add to the mix. These items cannot always be eliminated and some will lodge in your intestinal tract and build up over time, even if you eat perfectly.

This build up prevents the absorption of key nutrients from foods, interferes with elimination processes, and allows toxins to recirculate through the body.  The average person can have between 5 and 25 POUNDS of excess waste built up in their intestines.

The only effective way to get this build up out of your system is a good cleansing program. Chemical detox products can be too harsh and can be habit forming.  For best results, we recommend an herbal cleanser with a natural fiber supplement.  The Ultimate Cleanse Kit by Nature’s Secret is one of the best. The total cleansing cycle should take two to four weeks.  Again, keeping up your water intake wilt help ensure better results and ongoing health.
